The Cernan Earth and Space Center

Today was the spring field trip hosted by Joshua's school, Seton Montessori.  They were going to the Cernan Earth and Space Center at Triton College to learn about the planets, solar system and stars.  Of course all this information was giving to the kids at a "kids level" of understanding.  Not really sure how much of it he got, but it was still a very nice field trip to be a part of with him.  I told him how when I was in grade school I could remember going to a space center with my classmates.  (Not sure if it was this exact one or not, but it looked awfully familiar.)  The funniest thing he said to me as soon as we sat down in our seats, "when are they going to turn out the lights and where's the popcorn?"  Still cracks me up.

Joshua's Pajama Party!

We thought long and hard about this one and we thought a pajama party was perfect.  We asked people to come and wear their pajamas (if they wanted to) and most of them did.  We served breakfast food for dinner, which turned out yummy.  I made a cake that looked like a stack of pancakes.  And everyone had a good time.  We might even do it again. :)

Happy 4th Birthday, Joshua!!!

A small family get together, the Thomas cake he wanted and a few gifts....started off his birthday weekend.  Yes, I said birthday weekend because his birthday is on Thursday but his party wasn't until Saturday.  He seemed to enjoy his evening and I think he's really excited about being a big brother again because he had my pregnancy on his mind when he got a basketball from us for his birthday. :) 

 

 

 

 

I can’t believe how fast the last 4 years have gone!
It seems like only yesterday we were bringing our little baby home, wondering if we would really be able to do this parenting thing.
It seems like only yesterday our little guy was cutting his first teeth, trying solids for the first time and learning to crawl.

Now, my little boy is growing up.
He knows all his prayers by heart.
He loves to help us out in the kitchen any chance he gets.
He is learning to write.
He has started school and LOVES it!
He loves to eat and is not afraid to try new things.
He “writes” stories.
He draws endless pictures.
He is smart.
He is sensitive and kind.
He is loving.
He is MINE.

It's Grandparent's Day at Seton Montessori School

....And Joshua brought 4 out of his 5 grandparents to school with him.  I was told he had the most grandparents attend.

From what I heard, everyone had a great time.  Joshua was proud and very excited to show everyone what he does all day at school. 

Joshua's Birthday Celebration at School

It was a very special time, as it is with any child, to celebrate their birthday.  But when you take that special time and add a classroom filled with your friends, teachers, classmates, mom and little brother, it's as though nothing else in the world matters.  I was so happy and thrilled to have been there.  I got to see how honored he looked to share with eveyone a bit of himself; He got to show them pictures of himself when he was a baby and talk about some of his likes and dislikes from infancy, he brought a homemade snack to share with everyone, oatmeal cookies, and then as they sang to him he held the world in his hands and did the ceremonial walk around the sun, symbolized by a candle, 4 times to represent his 4 times around sun in his 4 year life time.  Very cool.  

And Hayden, well, he was a very well-behaved and supportive little brother, who is looking forward to the day when he gets to be in school. 

  

The Signs of Spring Get Covered

 

 

 

 

 

The last snowfall of the season came and covered everything that reminded us Spring was here.  Luckily, it didn't last long.  Two days later the grass showed it's green-ness and the flowers started to find their way out of the ground.  Maybe we did need that last bit of snow after-all.
